Building and Inspiring the Life Sciences Talent and Workforce Pipeline

Recruit Talent

Recruit Talent

Looking to recruit remarkable talent? BioHub is dedicated to not only connecting qualified life science professionals with employers, but also to developing the state’s workforce.

Maryland’s ranks number one in research and development contract awards, has twice the number of federal laboratories of any other state, and sits among the very best in the nation when it comes to level of education. The key to successfully building the best workforce possible is through education and experience – and Maryland has both. Boasting 14 public and 14 private universities, 16 community colleges and a bevy of trade schools, Maryland ranks sixth in the country with 271,900 enrolled college and graduate students. It is safe to say the Old Line State has no shortage of prospective talent in the pipeline. Ranking first in the nation for federal research grant awards and third for number of life science companies, Maryland is the hotbed for life science experts and innovation.

BioHub Maryland’s mission is to help your organization advance and achieve your goals in a variety of ways:

  • The BioHub job board is constantly being updated with new life science jobs and is viewed by thousands of daily users. BioHub also sends a weekly job board email with new listings and a highlighted employer of the month. Look no further if your organization is seeking to recruit new hires. For more information about becoming an employer of the month, please contact Jeremy Fischman at jeremy@mdtechcouncil.com.
  • With our grant funding, BioHub is developing STEM-based curricula to advance the next generation of life science innovators at higher education facilities across the State of Maryland.
  • BioHub plans to construct a shared laboratory space for startups to use, established companies to conduct retraining courses, and for students from partner organizations to experiment and learn.

Commitment to Equality

As we strive to improve the Maryland workforce, the state of Maryland encourages all companies to commit to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in their hiring process. Organizations that value different cultures, backgrounds, and abilities have higher employee satisfaction and retention rates, have increased productivity, and are more profitable. A comprehensive DEI policy helps connect employees of diverse backgrounds and fully utilize the experiences of all toward a more unified workplace.

The state offers a variety of resources including an educational packet to help your organization build a DEI framework. The framework serves as a foundation from which formal mechanisms such as practices and policies can be built. In support of the framework, you will learn how to make culturally relevant decisions, support diverse communities, communicate intentionally and inclusively, and digitize inclusive excellence.
