The successful candidate for the position of Engineer shall be fully capable of performing all

job functions listed in Section 1.0 and possess all the qualifications itemized in Sections 2.0

through 7.0.

Job Tasks

1.1 Analyze existing machine and process systems to determine productivity and cost

saving improvements.

1.2 Have a good working knowledge of engineering documentation systems such as

part lists and revisions

1.3 Conceptualize new machine systems.

1.4 Design and detail all machinery components.

1.5 Interface with vendors, customers, and production.

1.6 Assists with the directing and instructing of the maintenance mechanics,

machinists, and others as needed.

1.7 Proved technical support in troubleshooting production machinery as needed.

1.8 Perform design calculations to verify component sizing and assure machine

functionality.

1.9 Maintain design files on each machine design project.

1.10 Assemble/install prototype and finished production machinery.

1.11 Assist in machinery/process start-ups.

1.12 Modify existing machine and process systems based on prior analysis.

1.13 Write machine or system specifications as needed.

1.14 Report on project status at design review meetings as needed.

1.15 Coordinate the ordering of necessary materials, not in our stock, required to

machine the scheduled parts.

1.16 Work overtime as needed to maintain job schedules. Note: overtime is not

mandatory.

1.17 Develop 5S for needed components

1.18 Develop shadow boards for needed tools

1.19 Quarterly present recommendations to leadership

1.20 Develop and monitor KPI for each line you own as SME

1.21 Develop training for operators

1.22 Develop an annual budget for repairs, spare parts, and capex

1.23 GEMBA reviews and daily huddles with production teams specific to the

packaging lines for which the engineers

Job Skills

2.1 Versed in the efficient utilization of the following computer software:

2.2.1.2 Synchronized motion control (calculation of system parameters

and the creation of unique mechanisms.)

2.2.1.3 Cam and Gear motions

2.2.1.6 Material Science

2.2.1.7 Knowledge of types of electrical controls used on machinery,

including PLC’s.

2.2.2 Machine Shop Practices

2.2.2.1 Possess sufficient machining knowledge to be able to dimension

detail part drawings relative to the machine shop capabilities

2.2.2.2 Have an understanding of the machine tools commonly found in a

machine shop

2.2.2.3 Have an understanding of basic welding technology and symbols

2.2.2.4 Have an understanding of the sheet metal/fabrication practices

Physical Requirements

4.1 Majority of the job will be office work, however occasional periods of light work

and infrequent periods of heavier work will be required occasionally.

4.2 The worker will be exposed to inside office, manufacturing, and warehousing

environments.

4.3 The worker must be able to walk from plant to plant to perform field verifications,

and installations.

4.4 Occasional travel may be required.

Education/Experience

7.1 High School Graduate

7.2 BSME or equivalent experience

7.3 Minimum of 5 years’ experience in machine design for the converting, printing, and

packaging industry.

It is a plus if the candidate has had total systems responsibility

in the above-mentioned fields. It will also be helpful if the candidate has vendor

contacts in the above fields to help streamline our systems development process. The ideal candidate possesses both a high level of technical expertise and an innate passion to build. You will play a critical role in creating and refining processes in order to improve manufacturing safety, quality, and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain work instructions and manufacturing specifications
  • Identify and recommend methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to facilitate production process and evaluate potential changes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Industrial or Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 1 – 2 years’ of engineering experience
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Kanban, and 5S
