BioHub Maryland, the workforce initiative of the Maryland Tech Council, helps individuals from all backgrounds access careers in the life sciences. Through hands-on biopharma manufacturing training and industry-aligned curriculum licensed from the National Institute of Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT), BioHub Maryland prepares participants for entry into the biomanufacturing workforce.

Position Overview

BioHub Maryland is seeking a Summer Intern – Lab Assistant (20 hours/week) to support training operations at our Training & Education Center. This role supports instructors and trainees by helping prepare lab spaces, manage inventory, and maintain training materials. No prior laboratory experience is required and training will be provided.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in biotechnology, manufacturing, or workforce training and looking to gain hands-on experience in a GMP-style training environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist trainer with laboratory setup and breakdown for training sessions
  • Prepare materials, equipment, and consumables for hands-on trainings
  • Help track and organize inventory and restock supplies as needed
  • Support updates to training documents, checklists, and instructional materials
  • Maintain clean, organized, and training-ready lab spaces
  • Follow safety, laboratory, and GMP best practices

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Interest in science, biotechnology, or laboratory work
  • Strong organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Basic computer skills (email, Word, Google Docs, or Excel)

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Coursework or experience in science, manufacturing, or technical training
  • Familiarity with inventory tracking or documentation
