Role :Automation Engineer (GMP Operations)—W2

Location: Maryland (Onsite)
Duration: 6+ Months (Contract)
Start: ASAP

Focus: Automation – Rockwell / FactoryTalk – GMP Operations

Key Responsibilities

Project Support

• Support Fed-Batch and Legacy system automation projects, including integration and commissioning.
• Contribute to Continuous Manufacturing development and commissioning efforts.
• Lead and execute change controls; author and review URS, FRS, SAT, and FAT documentation.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams (process, engineering, quality) to deliver project deliverables.

BAU (Business-as-Usual) Support

• Provide day-to-day troubleshooting, maintenance, and system upgrades in GMP operations.
• Integrate new instruments and systems into existing automation platforms in alignment with data integrity and GMP requirements.
• Conduct preventive maintenance activities such as:
• Access/security updates
• Audit trail verification
• Backups and data integrity checks
• Data purges
• DST updates
• Serve as the automation SME for commissioning activities in GMP suites.
• Coordinate with external vendors to ensure timely and effective project execution.

Automation Hardware

• Scales, balances, indicators
• PLC systems (24V–120V), power supply cabinets
• Fiber/Ethernet networking
• IO-Link and DeviceNet instruments
• Network patching and automation infrastructure

Automation Software

• Rockwell FactoryTalk Suite:
• Logix500/5000 (v18–v33)
• FactoryTalk View SE/ME
• FactoryTalk Batch
• RSLinx
• FactoryTalk AssetCentre
• OSI PI and Kepware
• DeviceNet & IO-Link programming tools (RSNetWorx, Drive Executive)
• VMware vCenter / vSphere, Windows VM administration
• Ignition SCADA
• Unicorn-based skids
